How to Floss Your Teeth
Many people know that brushing and flossing are essential parts of good dental hygiene, but it can sometimes be difficult to remember to floss every day. Flossing helps remove bits of food that brushing leaves behind and is important in preventing tooth decay and helping you avoid the need for gum disease treatment in San Jose. Watch this video for a look at the proper way to floss your teeth.
Start with about 18 inches of dental floss. Wrap the ends around both of your middle fingers until you have about one inch in between your fingers. Gently work the floss in between your teeth and under the gum line, making sure that you make contact with both sides of the teeth. Try not to snap or pop your floss, as this could damage your gums. As you move from tooth to tooth, unwind a new section of floss so that you use a clean area each time. Don’t forget to floss your back teeth, and ask your dentist about special tools you can use if you have a hard time reaching.
